casper-friendly-ghostGot Writing Skills? Earn Money Writing as a Ghostwriter

If you have ever dreamed about having a career in freelance writing, you might look into the growing opportunity of ghostwriting. Ghostwriting is the practice of writing works (books, articles, etc.) anonymously for a client. In turn, the client gets full rights to place her name on the writing and publish it as her own.

Side Note: If you’ve heard of ghostwriting before and you already know it’s a career path you want to pursue, I recommend you pick up a copy of Just Add Sweat’s “How to Become a Ghostwriter” Guide. It will show you exactly what you need to know to get started.

But if you’re new to the idea of becoming a ghostwriter, let’s continue…

To get into ghostwriting, there are a few skills you should have or work to acquire:

- Excellent Writing Skills: Certainly to be a ghostwriter, you need to be able to write well. Your writing should flow well, cover topics thoroughly and in many cases, your clients will expect you to capture their unique voice in your writing.

- Research Skills: As a ghostwriter, you’ll be responsible for finding and processing all of the information that you will need to be able to do your writing on a specific topic.

- Grammar & Spelling: It might seem obvious, but it’s important to note. All of the work that you turn into your clients as a ghostwriter must be free of any grammar and spelling errors.

Many different types of businesses and individuals readily use ghostwriting services. Authors, business executives, celebrities and others may look to ghostwriters to write books for them. Online business owners, blog publishers and other websites hire writers to create articles and other content. Information product sellers look to ghostwriters to publish how-to and other instructional guides. The sky is the limit when you are looking for people who want to hire ghostwriters.

There are many things you can do put yourself ahead in this field (and the How to Become a Ghostwriter Guide covers these and more in depth).

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

- Start building a resume that will get you noticed. Highlight any writing experience and if you don’t have any,
you can offer to do a few free small projects to build your resume. Approach a non-profit business or someone that you
know that might need writing services.

- Determine which topics you are qualified to write about. Although many ghostwriters are well-rounded and can write on
many researchable topics, having a specialty can help you get work. For example, you might have special knowledge of health, finance or parenting topics. Use this to your advantage.

- Have relevant samples readily available to showcase your writing skills. Many clients are more concerned with how well you write, rather than the amount of experience you’ve had.

To get more help, get a copy of Just Add Sweat’s “How to Become a Ghostwriter” Guide. It will help you discover if ghostwriting is indeed the right career for you, how to break into the business, service rates and more.

Ghostwriting can be a competitive business, but there is plenty of room for new writers if you’re armed with the right approach and that’s exactly what the guide will give you. Go to JustAddSweat for all the details.

spinningThis is something I saw being discussed today by some Internet Marketers. It’s regarding the moment you realize that you know enough.

A lot of people get into a trap or “loop” of buying eBook after ebook and course after course looking for the magic formula to success. I honestly believe some of it stems from laziness. We think this online stuff should be easy… So we search in vain for the easy formula.

Until that day we realize the formula is never easy and that we already know how to be a success online.

I’ve seen people who have spent 1000s of dollars looking for the magic formula. But they never find it. Why? Because there isn’t one. Or when one emerges it doesn’t last long; the market becomes saturated with people running after the opportunity and overnight the opportunity loses it’s power.

That why I think it is so important to hang out in forums, read all the free stuff out there and then choose a path that is suited to YOU. After you’ve decided what path is best, then maybe buy a few eBooks related to that path… But commit to it and don’t be distracted because you see everyone else running to the New Big Thing.

Everyone’s going to be selling you something. All of them will convince you it’s the next best thing, but they are just SELLING something.

I’m not saying don’t buy anything. I am saying focus on a specific area and get to work. Don’t get bogged down by purchasing every new thing that comes along… This will never stop. There will always be new products to oogle over…

You need to know when to stop. It’s a bit of an addiction, but admitting you have a problem is the first step:)

So take a look at what you have. Take a look at yourself and make a decision to start acting. Start putting your money into your business instead of info products.

todolistYou finally realize that you need a good opt-in list. After reading countless articles and sought expert advices and have read many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists you finally decide to have one of your own. Then it happens, you think you have known everything there is to know about opt-in lists and have followed their advices to the T and you still weren’t able to make a profit.

In fact, you may be losing money. You maybe hiring writers to help you out, or there are some expenses incurred, even if you have a big list, but only a very small percentage actually buys from you, your still losing profit. You’ll realize that after a few months when you see your statistics and sales figures.

So what could have gone wrong? Why have others succeeded where you have failed? The most common mistake is that you dived straight right in. You chose a topic where you think could be quite popular and would earn you money. This just not the case. Just because you wrote people from the list doesn’t mean they are going to buy instantly.

Here I will offer more advice, for those who have started an opt-in list and have failed, you can rejuvenate your failed venture. For those who are starting, here are three quick and easy ways to build a profitable opt-in list.

1) Get your customers to trust you and your products first. Just launching your opt-in list would not make you an expert and a believable seller. Put out many articles first before you start an opt-in list. Get your name out there where people start to recognize it. Put out a survey to gain knowledge about your customers, about their wants and needs and target those wants and needs.

Join forums from other sites as well. Provide expert advices and recommendations. When you feel that people trust you, you will be able to start your own opt-in list. You can build a base as well with other forum users. You can ask them to join your list. Friends are always good customers. Put up a link to your site so that they may be able to see what you’re business is all about.

The certain truth is, the money will only come in when the consumers and subscribers believe and trust in you. They want a product or service that could be a good exchange for their money. People are not going to buy something out of your recommendation if they don’t know you.

2) Find a product or service that people want and need. Although it may not be your forte, if you provide a service and product that you have researched and learned about well, you can carry it on forward. Invest your time, effort and money that you could sell as well as the buyers or subscribers of your opt-in list can use.

While it is true that it is best to sell something that you have interest in, there are not many people who have the same interest as you if you decide to sell something that is not entirely popular or profitable. Do your research well and you would see the profits come in. Also provide your subscribers with promotional material that they could actually use and spread around.

3) Make friends with other opt-in list users. This is basically beneficial especially if it is someone who has already launched a successful opt-in list. These are people that have the experience in this venture and experience is still the best teacher. While there are many articles available for you in the internet to use, there is nothing like getting a first hand account from someone you trust.

Experienced opt-in list users will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do because they have gone through it. While different situations occur for different people, the general concept can still be very helpful. There are many things to avoid and these people will be able to tell you which ones.

Building a profitable opt-in list don’t just happen overnight. There are many preparations and effort to do. Opt-in lists are built from scratch, as your list grows, you should also maintain the quality of your list. Keep it organized and manageable. Get or hire help if need be, just make sure that your subscribers are happy and satisfied and they will be willing to buy from you.

If you need a good autoresponder to automate your list I would highly recommend the company I use Aweber.com they are great and you couldn’t find a nicer bunch of people.

cartwheelOnly Through Action will Anything Happen for You!

That may sound obvious, but many people never get anywhere because they don’t decide to act.

Some will over analyze every problem. They will over think it. Spending way to much time trying to find the RIGHT solution and never actually acting on the problem.

Sometimes the solutions aren’t even that far apart from the problem. They are all similar and that makes it even more difficult. What do you base the decision on?

Don’t FREEZE. Don’t become paralyzed. Inaction will not get you anywhere…

A couple examples…

Recently I was emailed by someone that wanted to know if I might be a good fit to work with their online business. Wonderful woman, great business opportunity but, I was literally paralyzed for a week because I hadn’t expected this offer and I really wasn’t sure what to do about it.

But all I needed to do was check out her company, e-mail her and tell her if I thought I would fit in with their company (she thought I would) and she would be ready to work something out with me. I was instead blown away that someone with such a huge organization would even take a second look at me, a nobody on the internet. I am still sporting some of the freezer burn from this event.

Well I froze. I put off contacting her for a week. I finally came out of my deep freeze and realized that even though her offer was a wonderful opportunity it was not part of my five year plan. It would not help me accomplish what it was I wanted to accomplish personally.

Once I realized this and unthawed my head, I knew exactly what I needed to do. I need to contact this wonderful woman and tell her thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity and for the faith in me, but, I had to follow my own dreams and stick to my own five year plan that I worked out very carefully and knew that it was part of my core and my true desires.

What I wish I had done?

I wish I had looked inside and acted on my true feelings.

Instead I froze and literally got no work done for a week because I kept going back and forth wondering what I should do and how I should talk to this woman. In the back of my mind I always knew what the answer was, but, somehow we as humans always have to analyze things, sometimes to the death.

I see a lot of people doing basically the same thing when they are trying to decide what to do with their business. They read and read, buy new books and video tapes but they never actually get to the heart of the problem, why they aren’t making money on the internet. You can ask questions forever. You should gather enough information to know all your options. But once you do, don’t just look at what you’ve gathered. Pick something and Act!

You have to decide to Just do it! You may fail sometimes. The action may not produce good results… But it will provide results. Even if you just learn from the experience, you sit in a better situation than you were yesterday…

Again, this doesn’t mean don’t analyze anything. You have to know you’re making the right decision. You have to know all your options, but once you do, make the move. Start the ball rolling. Remember to listen to your heart too, it will tell you what you need to do.

Motivation doesn’t come first. You can’t sit and wait to be motivated… Action comes first! Act and the motivation will follow…

So look at your problem, gather enough information to make a choice about the solution, and then Act on it…

Action breeds Success…
