What NOT to do

spinningThis is something I saw being discussed today by some Internet Marketers. It’s regarding the moment you realize that you know enough.

A lot of people get into a trap or “loop” of buying eBook after ebook and course after course looking for the magic formula to success. I honestly believe some of it stems from laziness. We think this online stuff should be easy… So we search in vain for the easy formula.

Until that day we realize the formula is never easy and that we already know how to be a success online.

I’ve seen people who have spent 1000s of dollars looking for the magic formula. But they never find it. Why? Because there isn’t one. Or when one emerges it doesn’t last long; the market becomes saturated with people running after the opportunity and overnight the opportunity loses it’s power.

That why I think it is so important to hang out in forums, read all the free stuff out there and then choose a path that is suited to YOU. After you’ve decided what path is best, then maybe buy a few eBooks related to that path… But commit to it and don’t be distracted because you see everyone else running to the New Big Thing.

Everyone’s going to be selling you something. All of them will convince you it’s the next best thing, but they are just SELLING something.

I’m not saying don’t buy anything. I am saying focus on a specific area and get to work. Don’t get bogged down by purchasing every new thing that comes along… This will never stop. There will always be new products to oogle over…

You need to know when to stop. It’s a bit of an addiction, but admitting you have a problem is the first step:)

So take a look at what you have. Take a look at yourself and make a decision to start acting. Start putting your money into your business instead of info products.

Start today!

open-doorHow to Enter a Forum…
That sounds silly doesn’t it? Why would I have to learn how to enter a forum? I just sign up and post right?

It would seem on the surface to be that easy, but I see a lot of people have a real hard time…

Over time forums create a very tight community. Everyone learns the rules and looks out for each other…

That’s the first thing… Read the rules. Different forums approach how you display links differently or even what you can talk about…

The other thing is don’t come in gang busters!! Don’t try to prove yourself and get to excited about showing everyone your knowledge etc….

Get to know the community first. Hang out for a while. Introduce yourself politely… Usually there is a separate area set aside for intros… And then start browsing.

Get to know the other posters… Remember a lot of these people have known each other for a while. They may even be doing business behind the scenes…

Once you have a feel for it, start helping out.

Helping out… If you have any knowledge to contribute, provide it… Help people with things you know about.

Learn… Read… Learn… Read some more… Ask questions…

Then let it rip if you want to.

The bottom line is very few people can go crazy right off the bat… There is an exception here or there, but usually the community wants to see you contribute for a while before you get bold. They need to get to know you.

Definitely don’t provide a sales pitch in your first post… You will getting flaming posts and anger the community. Everyone will see it as spam.

It’s just like building any relationship. Easy at first until you get to know each other.

Forums are powerful things. Don’t abuse that power. And don’t ruin your reputation…

42-17182418Apparently I don’t read my own post or something, as you know my page rank just went in the toilet. I have no idea why unless they seriously want me to post like everyday to keep my ranking up there. (when I say they I mean those mean google people!) So, if you want to keep your page ranking, I suggesting doing as I say and not as I do…. and on with the post.

Providing Fresh Content for Search Engines

Will adding a little fresh content and updating my home page regularly be a good thing?

I thought this might help some of you that are interested in attaining more traffic from the Search Engines. It’s a great way to get free traffic. It does take time to optimize your site to make the Search Engines happy, but it’s time well spent.

Search Engines love fresh content. It’s a well known fact that if you provide fresh content to any page the bots will visit more often to pick it up. And if you have more key words to your sales page, it’ll probably be even more beneficial…

I personally try to update my home page several times per week. I have a “What’s New!” that highlights any new articles, eBooks, or whatever. Which works great! It helps the Spider Bots find that content. If you write a new article, provide a link (with good keyword targeted anchor text of course) from your front page and the next time the bots come by, they’ll pick that article up and index it…

I also have just started a “Some New Thoughts” area on my front page to update a few times a week with fresh content. A good thing for SEs, but also remember… fresh content is also good for your visitors. Giving people a reason to come back is a good thing and making it easier for your visitors to find fresh content is another good thing. Then they can bookmark that home page, come back and in an instant find What’s New!

Are you trying to start to your own home based business?  Are you a work at home mom trying to make some extra money in this tough economy?  Are you looking to become the next affiliate giant or internet mogul?

I want to offer some simple tips on how to look professional and look like you are a real business that others would not be afraid to send their money too.

One; you are starting a business, it will be YOUR business, it will represent you.  How do you want people to see you?  If you want to be seen as a professional then you need to act like a professional.  You want people to see you as a legitimate business then act like a legitimate business.

I recently received an email from someone I had no idea who they were, had never heard of their name or company.  The first thing I saw as I open their email (I like to see what others are doing so, occasionally I will look at these spam emails, I know it is not good, but I have lots of software to protect me from virus’, so stop wagging your finger at me!) Anyway, the heading said they were offering the #1 affiliate marketing course.  Really?  I know some pretty big affiliate marketers and had never seen this name before.

Red flag number one!  Do not pretend to be something you are not.  People can see right through it.  There are ways to word things and still sound exciting without making yourself into something you are not!

Next, they told me if I joined this class I would “make rapidly money“.   Are you Kidding me?  If you are going to present yourself as a professional, you had better learn to write like a professional.  If you are going to present to an English speaking country you had better learn to use the English language correctly.  There were many more such grammatical errors, so many so that I could not even get past the first two paragraphs.

The thought that entered my mind was, does this guys email actually get people to respond?  Are people out there so desperate to start their own businesses that they would over look everything that was obviously wrong with this email, spend their hard earned money on this class, to earn an easy buck?

There are tons of these money making schemes out there in the world.  All of them offer you a chance to make money fast, and a lot of it too!  I have never heard of anyone who has actually made any money with these schemes except the people who are selling them to poor consumers who still believe there is an easy and fast way to make money in your own business.

Do your research before you fall for these get rich quick schemes, money is too hard to come by in this day and age to just throw it at the first person who offers you a chance to be a millionaire in a month!  I know it is an old adage and maybe tiresome to hear but it still stand true, if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.

In closing think of it this way, would you try to open a restaurant if you knew nothing about the restaurant business?  I don’t think so.  So, why would you try to open an internet business without knowing anything about the internet business world?  There is definitely money out there to be made on the internet and in my opinion it will only grow larger and provide more and more opportunities for those looking to make their mark in the internet marketing field, but, that means that the competition will grow stronger and larger also.  If you want to make your name in this game, you better make people believe you are worthy of them giving you their business.

Read up on what you want to learn, get books, and ebooks on the subjects that you want to learn about.  Study them, understand the business before you spend tons of money on things you saw on the internet, only to find out, you really didn’t want what they were selling in the first place.  Spending a little time researching the field you want to get into will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

I have just come out with my new Ebook called “Internet Marketing How To”, I believe that it offers much of what many of you have frequently asked me questions about, whether it be; affiliate marketing, or product creation and even lately the newest field everyone wants to get into viral marketing.  Take a look at my book and it’s contents, I have added a link.  I am offering an Introductory price for my loyal followers at $19.97.  Once I start really advertising this, the price will go up, so get your copy today.
